Review of the Environmental Performance of Tajikistan Was Discussed in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, 08.11.2023 /NIAT “Khovar”/. A plenary meeting with the participation of more than 20 international UN experts, as well as employees of the Committee for Environmental Protection and representatives of relevant ministries and departments of the republic took place on November 7 in Dushanbe. NIAT “Khovar” was informed about this by the Committee.

Today the Committee continues to actively work to improve its activities. The fourth Environmental Performance Review (EPR) of the Republic of Tajikistan confirms significant achievements in this area. Tajikistan is the first country to conduct the fourth Environmental Performance Review.

The EPR is an assessment of the progress made by the state in the area of harmonization of environmental and economic objectives and compliance with international environmental obligations. The EPR program assists countries to improve environmental management and environmental performance; encourages the exchange of information between countries on environmental policy and experience in its implementation; promotes the integration of environmental policy into sectoral policies in individual sectors of the economy; encourages government accountability to the public and strengthens cooperation with the international community.

The fourth EPR in the Republic of Tajikistan emphasizes the importance of sustainable development and environmental conservation for future generations. Tajikistan is proud of its achievements in the environmental field and will continue its efforts to achieve greater success.
