Turkmenistan and Tajikistan Discussed Trade and Economic Cooperation

On November 27-28, the 12th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was held in the capital of Tajikistan, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.

The Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister Tangryguly Atahalliyev, and the co-chairman from the Tajik side was Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Ziyozoda Sulaimon Rizoi.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral trade, economic, investment, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation. The potential for expanding partnerships in such areas as energy, water resources, agriculture, transport, logistics, education, medicine, culture and sports was noted.

The need to intensify business contacts, strengthen direct ties between companies of the two countries, and study mutual trade opportunities was emphasized.

As a result of the negotiations, the protocol of the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was signed. The next meeting of the commission was scheduled for 2024 in Ashgabat.
