International Experts Assessed Tajikistan’s Achievements in Solving Environmental Problems

On November 7, a Plenary meeting was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel with the participation of more than 20 international UN experts, as well as employees of the Committee for Environmental Protection and representatives from the relevant ministries and departments of the republic, reports the Committee for Environmental Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Today, the Committee continues to actively work to improve its environmental performance, and the fourth Environmental Performance Review (EPR) of the Republic of Tajikistan confirms significant achievements in this area. Tajikistan is the first country to conduct the fourth Environmental Performance Review.

An EPR is an assessment of the progress a government has made in reconciling environmental and economic objectives and complying with international environmental obligations. The EPR program assists countries to improve environmental management and environmental performance; encourages the exchange of information between countries on environmental policy and experience in its implementation; promotes the integration of environmental policy into sectoral policies in individual sectors of the economy; encourages government accountability to the public and strengthens cooperation with the international community.

The fourth EPR in the Republic of Tajikistan emphasizes the importance of sustainable development and environmental conservation for future generations. Tajikistan is proud of its achievements in the environmental field and will continue to strengthen its efforts to achieve even greater success.
