Freight Transportation Increased by 14.7% in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, November 26, 2023 /NIAT “Khovar”/. In January-October 2023, 96,733.6 thousand tons of cargo were transported by all types of transport, which is 14.7% more than the same period last year, reports the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

In January-October 2023, 91,473.0 thousand tons of cargo were transported by road transport of all ministries, departments, enterprises, organizations and by road transport of private entrepreneurs, which is 94.6% of the total volume of goods transported by all types of transport. In January-October 2023, the volume of road transport increased by 15.2% compared to January-October 2022.

“The structure of cargo transportation by road by region of the republic shows that 33,119.7 thousand tons of cargo were transported in the Khatlon region, or 36.2% of the total volume of cargo transportation, respectively, in the Sughd region – 27,916.8 thousand tons (30.5 %), GBAO – 855.3 thousand tons (0.9%), for the city of Dushanbe – 14870.5 thousand tons (16.1%) and regions of republican subordination – 14870.5 thousand tons (16.3% ). In January-October 2023, 5259.7 thousand tons of cargo were transported by rail (including loading, unloading and transit of goods), compared to January-October 2022, the volume of transportation increased by 7.2%. The volume of cargo transportation by regions of the republic is distributed as follows: Sughd region – 51.4% (2706.1 thousand tons), Khatlon region – 8.1% (424.2 thousand tons) and Dushanbe (including RRP) – 40.5% (2129.4 thousand tons),” noted the Statistics Agency.

In January-October 2023, 744,382.9 thousand passengers were transported by all types of passenger transport, which is 10.1% more than the level in January-October 2022. Land transport occupies the main place in the transportation of passengers, the share of which during the reporting period was 99.9%.

During the reporting period, 727,096.5 thousand passengers were transported by road (including transport of ministries and departments, private entrepreneurs). Compared to January-October 2022, the volume increased by 10.1%.

Passenger turnover of all types of transport in January-October 2023 amounted to 9442.2 million passenger-kilometers and increased by 17.2% compared to January-October 2022.
