Based on the results of three quarters of 2023, Russia retained its leadership in terms of trade turnover with Tajikistan, it amounted to more than $1.2 billion. At the same time, the volume of mutual trade decreased by 0.6% compared to January – September 2022, follows from the report on socio-economic the situation in Tajikistan, prepared by the statistics agency under the president of the republic.
The bulk of trade turnover for the three quarters of 2023 was made up of imports from the Russian Federation to Tajikistan – about $1.1 billion, exports amounted to about $100 million. Russia for the specified period is the main partner for imports to Tajikistan – 26.7% of the total came from the Russian Federation to the republic number of goods.
Among the CIS countries, Kazakhstan took second place – the volume of trade with Tajikistan amounted to about $830 million, which decreased by 20% compared to the same period last year. Over the nine months of this year, Kazakhstan has become the main buyer of goods in Tajikistan; 22% of the total export volume was supplied to the republic. Trade turnover with Belarus increased by 26.3% – to $67.9 million, with Azerbaijan the increase was 32.1% – to $6.1 million.
The largest increase in trade volumes with the CIS countries over the indicated period was between Tajikistan and Armenia – $334.1 thousand, which is 2.8 times more than in the same period last year. Trade turnover with Moldova increased 1.7 times and amounted to $148 thousand.
Of the countries outside the CIS, Tajikistan has the largest trade turnover with China – from January to September 2023 it amounted to about $1 billion, which is 10.4% more than in the same period last year. Among non-CIS countries, trade volume also increased with the United States by 34.8%, amounting to $183 million, and with Germany by 2.1 times, amounting to $153.6 million.
