The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, held discussions with the leadership of Tajikistan during his official visit


A roadmap for the preparation of President Tokayev’s state visit to Dushanbe was agreed upon during the talks.

President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan discussed priority areas for cooperation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, as reported by the press service of the head of the state. Murat Nurtleu is currently in Tajikistan on an official visit.

The meeting highlighted the trend of sustainable expansion of the two countries’ strategic partnership, elevating their relationship to the level of allied interaction. Emphasizing the significant achievements of the past year, President Rahmon noted the richness of Tajik-Kazakhstan relations in the current year.


Both parties expressed support for the further effective development of mutually beneficial cooperation in various economic sectors, including trade, industry, energy, agriculture, and investment. They also discussed collaboration in the fields of tourism, culture, and education. The meeting included an exchange of opinions on events planned for this year at both bilateral and multilateral levels, addressing current issues on the international and regional agenda.

Today, Murat Nurtleu also had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Sirodjidin Mukhriddin. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, the heads of the foreign policy agencies, in both narrow and extended formats, paid special attention to the implementation of agreements reached during President Emomali Rahmon’s state visit to Kazakhstan in May 2023. This included the activation of trade, energy, and investment cooperation.


Following the negotiations, a roadmap for the preparation of the state visit of Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Dushanbe in 2024 was agreed upon. Murat Nurtleu’s visit to Dushanbe will continue until January 26th.
