Tajikistan Introduces Ban on Import of Old Cars From Kazakhstan

Tajikistan is introducing a ban on the import of old vehicles from countries that are members of the World Trade Organization, including Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports.

As the KazStandard press service reported, the restrictions apply to vehicles manufactured before 2013.

“Tajikistan has prepared a decree aimed at preventing the import of old cars, which are a major source of air pollution and harm to human health and the environment, as well as a significant increase in the amount of waste (batteries, tires, air conditioners) from old cars,” KazStandart reported “.

Let us remind you that since 2005, the Information Center on technical barriers to trade and sanitary and phytosanitary measures has been operating on the basis of KazStandard. The functions of the center include providing information to the WTO secretariat, WTO member states and all interested parties.

The decree is expected to come into force in Tajikistan on January 1, 2024.
