Tajikistan Has Listed Priority Projects for Funding to the European Union

The tenth meeting of the committee on cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union was held in the capital of Belgium. The meeting was co-chaired by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Zavki Zavkizoda, and the head of the Central Asia Department of the European Commission, Luke Devine. The details of the meeting were reported in the press service of the relevant ministry of Tajikistan.

“The Republic of Tajikistan proposed to the European Union for financing several priority projects, including the projects “Strategy for the development of a green economy in the Republic of Tajikistan”, “Medium-term program for the development of the digital economy in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021–2025”, “Development of social infrastructure”, – The press service quotes the head of the ministry, Zavkizoda.

During the event, Tajikistan’s partners from the European Union announced that they would send 91 million euros to the republic over four years (until 2024). The money will come as part of the EU Indicative Programme. It was also announced that €30 million has been allocated as part of budget support.

It was also reported at the meeting that the European Union is financing a number of projects to develop supplies in the textile sector. 64.5 million euros have already been allocated.
