Study in Dubai: What Opportunities Do Citizens of Tajikistan Have?

The UAE is not the most popular country among Tajik applicants, but it is very prestigious in terms of education.

There are branches of educational institutions in the USA, Australia, and Great Britain in the Emirate of Dubai. And this year, 11 Dubai universities were included in the QS World University Rankings from the British publication Times Higher Education.

Let us tell you what students from Tajikistan can get here.

Various educational programs are available at Dubai universities, including both English and programs that meet the educational standards of various countries: the USA, Canada, Germany, France, Australia, India.

In addition, Dubai is home to some of the most prestigious educational institutions in the Middle East. Each of them offers its own specializations and programs, so it is better to get detailed information from specific universities.

Studying at a university in Dubai per year, according to employees of the educational agency Multikid, costs approximately $12,000.

As Asia-Plus was informed by the Ministry of Education of Tajikistan, our country and the UAE government signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research in March 2016. Over the past 5 years, 26 students from Tajikistan have received higher education in the Emirates.

According to the Memorandum, Tajikistan and the UAE exchange students (postgraduate students, masters, PhDs), scientific programs, internships, experience in academic, technical and administrative fields at universities, etc. The exchange of student grants is also implied.

This year, the UAE allocated 2 quotas to our country for studying at their universities. Thus, students can enroll in studies independently, through the official website of a particular university, without the mediation of the Ministry of Education of Tajikistan.

Applying with Multikid
Educational agency “Multikid” cooperates with several universities. These include: Herriot Watt University, Middlesex University, University of Birmingham, Amity Business School and Wollongong University.

In addition, upon individual request, they can select a program at other universities in Dubai and neighboring emirates: for example, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah.

Universities provide various options for comfortable on-campus accommodation. And if students have academic and sports achievements during their studies, universities offer them financial support.

Multikid employees told Asia-Plus more about studying at universities in Dubai.

What specialties can applicants from Tajikistan study in Dubai?
There are a lot of interesting specialties in Dubai, the most unusual ones that they can apply for:

  • Real Estate Management and Finance (Real Estate Management and Finance)
  • Business Economics
  • Automotive Engineering
  • Robotics, Autonomous and Interactive Systems (Robotics, autonomous and interactive systems)
  • Computers Science & Data Security (Informatics and data security)
  • Aerospace Engineering (Aerospace Engineering)
  • “The choice of specialties is huge. Each university is strong in a certain area: business and finance, engineering, fashion and design, exact sciences, diplomacy, etc.,” added Multikid.
  • Students can study in the following programs: Foundation, Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD.

The Foundation Program is a program for preparing applicants for the university, helping them adapt to the country of study, improve their level of foreign language proficiency and gain additional academic skills to meet all the requirements of studying at the university.

Training is conducted in English. It can be used in general for a comfortable life in Dubai. Or you can enroll in Arabic language courses for an in-depth study of the history and culture of the country.

What requirements do universities in Dubai put forward?
Basic requirements: a certificate of completion of grade 11 and an international IELTS or TOEFL certificate showing the level of knowledge of the English language.

What criteria should you use to choose a university?
Multikid employees advise, first of all, to pay attention to the faculties that each university offers.

“In most cases, students choose the same thing because they are unaware of the huge selection of modern specialties with good job prospects.

Also pay attention to degree recognition (each university has its own advantages), cost and extracurricular activities.

You shouldn’t choose a university based on location, since Dubai universities are divided into 2 categories.

Some are conveniently located in central areas. Others are in special areas, such as Knowledge village, Academic City, and almost all provide their students with free transfer service to travel from the university to the main points of the city,” the agency says.
