Sherali Kabir: “Tajikistan Must Have Its Own Defense Industry”

The Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan Sherali Kabir said today at a press conference that in May 2023, the Sipar Gurukh enterprise, which assembles and assembles special military vehicles, was put into operation in Tajikistan.

Sherali Kabir said that the armored vehicles produced in Tajikistan are in no way inferior to those vehicles that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan produce today.

Currently, the Ministry of Industry has a special department for the development of the defense industry.

According to Sherali Kabir, armored vehicles in Tajikistan are produced according to Canadian

One of the advantages of Tajik armored vehicles is that high-quality metal from their own resources is used for their wheels.

Earlier it was reported that Tajik President Emomali Rahmon commissioned the Sipar Group enterprise in the city of Tursunzade, where special military and civilian equipment is assembled.

At the new enterprise, created in cooperation with development partners, at the first stage, with the import of individual parts from abroad, the assembly and installation of 17 types of special vehicles will be arranged.

The annual capacity of the new industrial plant is only 120 vehicles so far, this figure will be increased in the future.

The vehicles assembled at this enterprise will be sent to the units of the Armed Forces of the Republic. In the future, they are expected to be exported to foreign countries.

But the minister did not say whether these vehicles were delivered to the Tajik Armed Forces.

In the fall of 2022, it was also reported that Tajikistan launched the production of Ababil-2 unmanned aerial vehicles to ensure its security.

Sherali Kabir said that this is not a project of the Ministry of Industry. But he noted that in the future the production of drones can be arranged for civilian purposes.
