Saudi Arabia intends to buy fresh fruits, dried fruits, honey and drinking water from Tajikistan. This issue was discussed at a meeting of the Director of the Export Agency under the Government of Tajikistan, Bahriddin Sirojiddinzoda, with the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Tajikistan, Walid ibn Abdurahmon Ar-Reshaidon, Asia-Plus reports with reference to the press service of the Agency, EastFruit Internet portal reports.
Sirojiddinzoda noted that Tajikistan has significant potential in the agricultural, electricity and textile industries, and can actively attract Saudi Arabian companies for mutually beneficial cooperation.
In turn, the Saudi diplomat expressed readiness to assist in the development of the activities of businessmen of the two countries, increase the volume of trade and export of honey, fresh fruits, dried fruits and drinking water to Saudi Arabia.
According to the Customs Service of Tajikistan, trade with Saudi Arabia for the first half of 2023 amounted to about $121,000. And for the entire 2022, trade between the two countries amounted to $276,000.
Recently, steps have been taken to increase trade between the two countries.
At the end of last year, a business forum was held in Dushanbe, which was attended by representatives of more than 200 companies and enterprises from various fields of economic activity in Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia, including energy, construction, transport, logistics, agriculture, financial and banking, telecommunications, insurance and trade, and government ministries and departments.
Guests from Saudi Arabia visited the industrial enterprises of Dushanbe and studied the possibilities of investing in the Tajik economy.
