Military personnel of the 201st military base took part in the improvement of military graves at the Orthodox cemetery in the city of Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan. The event took place on the eve of the 82nd anniversary of the Battle of Moscow during the Great Patriotic War.
Before the start of the cleanup, the head of the military search group “Pamyat-201” Gafur Shermatov addressed the participants. “We, according to our good old tradition, are holding a cleanup day dedicated to the memory of all the people who fought and died for our Motherland,” said Gafur Shermatov.
Assistant commander of the 201st military base Dmitry Koryagin added that many Soviet soldiers who are buried in this cemetery do not have relatives who could maintain order at the graves, therefore, it is the duty of every serviceman, every citizen to preserve the memory of those people and their exploits .
During the event, order was restored to more than 100 graves of Soviet defenders. During the cleanup, the participants cleared the graveyards of grass, removed accumulated garbage, and also trimmed bushes and planted flowers. In addition, fences and monuments that required repairs were promptly repaired and painted. Traditionally, the event was attended by not only military personnel of the military base, but also civilian personnel of the military unit, representatives of the Russian Embassy and Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Tajikistan, military personnel of the Russian Border Troops group in Tajikistan, cadets of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as activists among whom there are many schoolchildren and students.
