A Fugitive Special Forces Soldier From Tajikistan Was Caught on the Saratov Border. He’ll Be Sent Home


A 26-year-old citizen of Tajikistan, who is wanted for desertion, was detained in the Saratov region.

According to the regional prosecutor’s office, the guy is accused of being the commander of a special events company of the military unit of the Ministry of Defense of Tajikistan with the rank of senior lieutenant, and did not report to his unit in August last year after his vacation. Instead, he came to the Russian Federation and stayed there.

Similar actions in his homeland were qualified under Part 2 of Art. 375 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan.

He was detained by police officers in July of this year while crossing the Russian-Kazakh border in the Ozinsky district. After an extradition check, it was decided to extradite him to law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan; He will spend the remaining time in Russia in custody.
