At the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, at the initiative of the World Bank, a meeting was held between the Chairman, Colonel-General of Militia R. Nazarzoda, and a delegation of the World Bank headed by the Specialist for Urban Development and Disaster Risk Management of the World Bank, Ms. Chi Yun Huang, press reports – Service of the Emergency Committee of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, issues related to identifying options for possible trigger conditions to ensure immediate access to conditional liquidity in preparation for possible natural disasters or a crisis situation and drawing up possible innovations for inclusion in the Cat-DDO option were discussed.
The main purpose of the meeting is to review the mechanisms for using World Bank resources in the event of natural disasters and providing assistance to the affected population, as well as supporting the implementation of preventive measures in case of emergencies.
The head of the CoES informed the guests about the construction of the National Training Center for the training of rescuers, the creation of a training center for divers, the Dog Training Center, the continuation of the construction of the Crisis Management Center (CMC) in the Central Office and the start of construction of the CCC in the regions. In addition, issues of organizing trainings, training courses and seminars for CoES employees were considered.
In turn, Ms. Chi Yun Huang noted that the Committee has carried out quite effective work in the prevention and elimination of consequences of natural disasters. She expressed confidence in the further development of cooperation between the World Bank and the CoES of Tajikistan.
At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the prospects for further cooperation, and also discussed issues of mutual interest.
