For the period from January to June 2023, Tajikistan imported 709 electric vehicles.
Sputnik Tajikistan was told about this in the department of land transport in the ministry of the republic.
It is noted that the semi-annual figure is almost equal to last year, which amounted to 767 electric vehicles.
In addition, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan shared that since 2021 the republic has imported over 1.4 thousand electric vehicles.
At the same time, the authorities intend to increase their share in the country to 20-30% of the total number of passenger vehicles in the coming years. These goals are set within the framework of the Electric Transport Development Program in the Republic.
At the same time, Tajikistan has provided incentives for importers of electric vehicles, including exemption from customs duties.
Earlier, the prospects for cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan in the fields of energy and transport were discussed.
The parties agreed to implement specific projects in the field of strengthening trade and economic cooperation, creating joint industrial enterprises, including in the territory of free economic zones (FEZ) of Tajikistan.
In particular, they discussed the supply of crude oil from Azerbaijan for the needs of an oil refinery in the Dangara FEZ, raising capital for the reconstruction of the Tajik Aluminum Company, exports of aluminum, cryolite and aluminum fluoride from Tajikistan to Azerbaijan, and imports of alumina from Azerbaijan to Tajikistan.
